What We Do

Our work spans seven thematic areas, with cross-cutting priorities of:

– Gender equality
– Climate change adaptation
– Environmental protection
– Inclusion and protection

Our programme strategy focuses on three core areas: emergencies, health, and livelihoods. Each thematic area has strategic objectives designed to achieve measurable impact in collaboration with partners and local communities.

Our Strategy

Strategic Priorities
Humanitarian and Development Continuum Short-term emergency relief is combined with long-term capacity development to ensure immediate survival while building resilience and self-sufficiency.
Evidence-Based Programming Participatory context and conflict analyses inform programme design, ensuring interventions are responsive, inclusive, and tailored to local realities.
Integrated Approaches Health, livelihood, and peacebuilding interventions are combined through a triple-nexus framework, creating synergies between humanitarian response, development, and peacebuilding.
Flexibility and Adaptability Programmes are designed to rapidly adapt to evolving needs, allowing HAA to shift seamlessly between humanitarian assistance and development work depending on the context.
